The study emphasize to traces all constitutional sources of authority for the laws on environment of Bangladesh. Evolution from a series of related statutes to a large inter-connected, multilevel legal system encompasses resource protection and environmental health. Biological conservation, pollution control and prevention also highlights here. Environmental policy and management also briefly describes. The set of environmental laws and regulations now in force at the divisional level comprises many volumes. A comprehensive review of the history and complexity of Bangladesh environmental law and institutions would require additional volumes.

Nation’s first environmental laws and policies emerges near the end of the 19th century, when Parliament authorizes the Environment Pollution Control Ordinance, 1977 (Ordinance No. XIII of 1977). Until the mid 20th century, environmental laws  address specific matters such as park designations, wildlife preservation, soil conservation, public health and resource management on public lands, etc. Development of environmental law follows independence of the nation refined the roles of resource conservation, expands environmental research and technical assistance. Also buttresses the role of the states in setting standards for regulations to protect public health.

At the close of the 1980s, rapid growth in environmental consciousness ushered in a series of new environmental laws. Relevant  institution designs to restore and maintain the quality of the Bangladesh environment. Such concept encourages comprehensive regulation of air and water pollutants. It also establishes a process for early analysis and review of proposed national actions that might significantly affect environmental quality. In the 1980,s additional broad national laws to control toxic chemicals and hazardous wastes and to protect animal and plant species add to the list. Existing divisional institutions expand their environmental efforts and new district institutions create to oversee and implement these laws and policies.
