Preparation of Banaripara Pourashava Master Plan initiates in the year 2010. The Pourashava is under the district of Barisal. It stands on the southern part of Bangladesh, adjacent with the Bay of Bengal.

Banaripara Paurashava comprises one river namely Sandhya River encloses about 74.19 acre. The river covers Ward No. 1 and 2 and connets 3 canals/khals.

Natural flood occurs in every rainy season but not stay for a long time. Direction of flow of water during flood submerges low lands of the Pourashava town. Inundation period during May to November. Sometimes it overflows the embankment and causes many losses of property and lives. During flood, river side settlements mainly affects.
