Drainage Plan Considerations

The Drainage and Environmental Management Plan analyzes present functions of primary and secondary drains and natural streams. Secondly, level of encroachment over drainage reservations responsible for flooding and water-logging during heavy rains. Thirdly, existing roadside drains including capacities and collected gradients. Since planned development of Pourashava very much desirable, Drainage and Environmental Management Plan ensures operation and maintenance of the present facilities including future proposal. For this, area based short and long-term project improvement plan is being prepared.

The Drainage and Environmental Management Plan contains natural drainage system and situation of man-made drains. Land level of the Pourashava and peak hour run-off discharge calculates carefully. Identification of drainage outfalls considers as prime element of drain network plan. Proposal for improvement of the existing drain network and infrastructure measures for drainage and flood control component proposes according to the design. Plan implementation strategies focus on the involvement of the authorities.

Environmental Management Plan Components

Environment Management Plan includes geographical components like climate, temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind direction and hydrology. Household waste, industrial waste kitchen market waste, clinical waste and waste management system analyzes in the initial stage of the plan. Sanitary condition, water pollution, air pollution, sound pollution and arsenic contamination also considers as Environment Management Plan components. Cyclone, river erosion, flood, water-logging, fire hazard and soil erosion focuses as natural hazards.

Solid Waste Management Plan, Open space, Wet-land and Relevant Features Protection Plan mostly emphasizes on physical components. Pollution Protection Proposals,  Natural Calamities and Regular Hazard Mitigation Proposal focuses on mitigation issues. Plan Implementation Strategies provide guidelines on resolving the identified issue.
