Khulna City stands on the southwestern part of Bangladesh. Once it was an industrial city, surrounds by Rupsha and Bhariab Rivers on the northeastern part and Beel Dakatia on the southwestern part. The city shapes linear and about 65% land owned by the government. With the rapid increase of population, private sector also forms planned neighbourhood in the peripheral areas.
