Hotel and restaurant identifies as an important component among urban development activities. The subjects perform a significant role in the commercial arena. As like other commercial establishment, buyers and sellers stands on same compound and the role primarily performs as commercial. Except those roles, hotels and restaurants preserve different characters such as – living and fooding. The basic two necessities directly serves by the establishments to the buyer. Living environment with hygienic food, health facilities including doctor provide by the seller for buyers and employees.
In Bangladesh, different authorities use different regulations to control the activities and development of hotels and restaurants. Most of those regulations identifies as obsolete. Due to the presence of those obsolete regulations, a large number of problems generate in the enforcement procedure of the regulations. As an example, setback provision of the eating hotels, location of the residential hotels, unavailability of sunlight and natural air of the eating hotels, unhygienic foods and drinks supplied by the hotels, etc. A segment of urban life pollutes through irresponsible development of the hotels and restaurants.
The study accelerates those problems in consideration with the regulatory aspects. The problems involve with the development and control of the hotels and restaurants conceal in the contemporary regulations and their inefficient execution. Necessary amendment of the contemporary regulations, incorporation of new regulations for efficient management and control utmost important. A strong supervisory role of the authorities could remove those problems.
