Vehicles on Pourashava Roads

Van and rickshaw shows two major transport vehicles in the planning area. Bicycle is the main mode for private users. Movement of motorcycle also identifies as major private mode. Inadequacy of bus service found normal scenario in the Pourashava. The peak hour traffic movement is found in morning from 9am to 10am and in the afternoon from 4pm to 5pm in general. Overall traffic congestion is low, let it should not be increased. The movements of Nosimon which is very risky need to restrict to keep the urban area risk free, clean and sound. Establishment of bus route within the planning area is another prior demand of the people.

Environment Pollution

In Patharghata Pourashava, noise pollution creates by three wheeler and sound generates from saw mills and rice husking mills. Water contamination observes as “Arsenic” threat. Air pollution causes by dust emits from saw mill, rice hushing mills and furniture shops. Flood water and water-logging creates health hazards. Dysentery, diarrhea, etc. diseases generates due to flood and Water-logging. Habitual inundations, especially in monsoon, due to external floods from canals considers another threat to environment. Above causes seems extremely important for the Pourashava. Pragmatic planning / solution and proper Drainage Master Plan very pertinent issues in planning the Patharghata Pourashava.

Accommodation of future thrust of growth likely to arise after supply of safe drinking water. This will follow providing safe and easy accessibility, use of agriculture production in income generating activities and provisioning further investment.

Natural Disaster

The Pourashava including the Patharghata Upazila has affected by the several major natural disasters ranging from Cyclone, Flood to Water-logging and Draughts. The periods of those disasters are 1998, 2000, 2004, 2007 and 2008. Very scanty attempt takes by the government to rehabilitate people after the natural disaster.

Urbanization covers land for residential use. Agricultural lands and water bodies choses most frequently and the lands convert into urban settlement. In the Patharghata Pourashava, wet lands are being filled up and agricultural lands convert in to non-agricultural purposes. This identifies as the major man-made disaster accelerating the degree of conversion year to year. Use of poisonous insecticides on the agricultural land is another man-made disaster which will affect in the long-run.
